I should be going to bed now. I'm just exaughsted. Today could of been the worst day of my entire life.
We were in a car accident.
We were driving down the road between 30 and 35 mph. Cars were lined up in the lanes that go straight because it was a red light. Apparantly both lanes made a break to let a Silverado truck get out of the parking lot to make a left-hand turn. Well when they made the break for him, he punched it to get out of the parking lot just as we were driving down the side to get into the left hand turning lane.
He t-boned us, or broadsided us, whatever you call it. He smacked right into the back passenger side door. The door where my little boy was sitting. He's in a booster seat now so we no longer have him in the center seat belt since that belt is only a lap belt and those can be dangerous themselves. I like him to have the shoulder strap. Anyway, he hit us starting at my door but the main impact was on the Kidlet's door and back fender. It spun us almost around but the Hunk, trying to regain control of the car from having tried to swerve out of the way, couldn't quite get it right and the front passenger side of our car hit a truck that was sitting there waiting for the red light to turn green.
The Kidlet immediately asked, "Did Daddy crash?" and the Hunk and I were immediately asking the Kidlet if he was ok. He said he was but he looked so shook up like he didn't know whether or not to cry or get out of his seat.
I got on my cell phone immediately while the hunk got out of the car. He quickly asked the guy that hit us if he was ok then immediately went to get the Kidlet to make sure he was fine. He tried going over to the passenger side door where the Kidlet was but there wasn't even a door handle there anymore to open the door. Not that the door would of opened. Thank God this didn't shatter the glass. This was one big ass truck with a huge bumper guard.
The ambulance was there almost immediately. I saw about 3 other people on thier cell phones as well so I figured that they had called 911 as well. I got out of the car and the Kidlet suddenly got very scared of the loud sirens (normally he *loves* fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances) and he started saying, "They're coming to get me!" and he clung to me very tightly. He kept saying, "Don't let them take me, please" I wanted to cry right there.
Once the paramedics surrounded he and I (the Hunk was talking to the police) asking us questions about being hurt and what not I kept trying to comfort the Kidlet that these were real fire fighters and policemen and that they were there to help us. He seemed to like that idea and from then on he kept asking every rescue worker, "Are you the good guys?"
The Kidlet smacked the side of his head on the door so the side of his face was red but he was acting fine. I was shaken but not in any pain at all so they said I could go to the hospital or I could just call my OB/GYN and see what he wanted me to do. I wanted to talk to the Hunk about it because I didn't want to go to the hospital with the Kidlet by myself and have him be scared or even seperated from me. I didn't know how they did things. The Hunk was still so busy answering questions and talking to the wrecker guy that I couldn't talk to him so I said I didn't think I needed to go.
There was this woman who was stuck infront of the truck that hit us and behind of the truck that we hit. She came over to ask if I was ok and I said I was but I was just scared because I was 9 months pregnant. She said she understood because she just had a baby. She let the people talk to us and stood by her car and when things settled down she gave the Kidlet a beautiful purple teddy bear. I wish I could of gotten her name. He hasn't let go of that bear since. It was just such an incredibly nice gesture of her. She really touched my heart.
Well after everyone started leaving we pulled the car into the parking lot next to the street. It ruined our brand new tire (we just bought 4 new tires!). We had gotten the car inspected, oil changed and filled the tank with gas not even 4 hours earlier. It looks bad. I don't think they are going to total the car out or anything but I don't know.
We called the Hunk's Mom (who's house we just left) to come and get us and we all headed over to the emergency room. The Hunk's wrist was starting to hurt and I was starting to get cramps and feeling some tightening of my uterus. Then I started feeling some dampness in my pants and I thought that my water had broke or was leaking. It turns out that *blush* I just wet myself a little bit. You know pregnant women have no bladder control! Put them in a car accident and you're just asking for that other kind of accident.
They hooked me up to a monitor and the baby was just really wiggly and moving around. The heartbeat was great and she said everything looked fine. The doctor told her to send me home. She said at this stage in pregnancy anything can irritate the uterus and those menstrual like cramps are just the uterus telling us that. She said to take some Tylenol and if I start having worse pain, bleeding or contractions that are regular to come back in. She said that if I did go into labor not to worry because the baby was mature enough to be born now.
The Kidlet was just fine. They told us what to look for should he have a more serious head injury and the Hunk's wrist was x-rayed and was fine. They gave him a perscription for Vic0den for the pain. He really wasn't in a lot of pain, he said it was just stiff but he might need that in the morning. I don't know how any of us will feel in the morning.
My beautiful cell phone is demolished. The screens look like water got in there or that something blasted the picture to all heck. The phone itself works but you just can't read anything on it.
The Hunk looked like he wet his pants because he had a brand new Dr. Pepper. He drives with it between his legs and well, you can imagine what happened to that soda. I almost had to chuckle to myself because my mother and grandmother always told me to always wear clean underware because you never know when you are going to be in an accident. I had clean underware on!
Well, I'm very tired. It's been a long day and I need to get some rest. The cramping seems to have gone away and the baby has been moving around more tonight so I hope he's not turning or anything but just sort of stretching. I'll let you guys know what happens with our car.
Oh and yes, we were insured and no we don't know if the other guy was because we never spoke to him except to ask if he was ok.
I'm off to bed. I thank you God for letting us be so, so very fortunate. Things could have been so much worse. That truck hit into my son's side of the car that he was sitting right next to. I don't think I'll feel safe in a car for a very long time. I want to cry so badly thinking of how hurt the Kidlet could of gotten or if something really bad happened with this baby. Even the Hunk! We are so blessed and so fortunate that we walked away with very minor injuries. Actually I walked away without any injury.
Thank you God, thank you.
